Introduction

A Chief Technical Officer (CTO) is a great executive who is responsible for the management associated with an organization's r and d (R& D) and technical needs. A chief technology officer (CTO) examines the short and long term requires of an organization, and utilizes capital to make investments designed to help the firm reach the objectives. When research and development is a component of businesses for many years, the rise details technology (IT) and pcs has increased the importance of the CTO. Companies focusing on scientific and electronic products employ CTOs who are responsible for the oversight of intellectual real estate and have experience in the industry.

Primary Ideas

Origins (1950's and 60's)

In the 1950s and 1960s, many large organizations established fabulous research labs at locations remote off their headquarters and manufacturing establishments. The goal was to accumulate brilliant experts and allow them to study relevant topics in an environment unhindered by day-to-day business issues. The director of the lab was normally a corporate vp who did not participate in the decisions relating to corporate approach and way.

1980's

In the late 1980's businesses began getting R& D directors while Chief Technology Officers. Technology was turning into such a prevalent element of company product or service that senior management needed an operational executive whom could appreciate it and provide reliable tips on their application.

1990's

During the 1990's, a change in the strategic mother nature of information systems signaled a shift in the level of importance that was accorded the positioning of CTO. As agencies looked to look for new techniques to leverage information systems to aid both detailed and strategic goals from the firm, the position of CIO/CTO became critical to attaining business objectives.
